Privacy Policy

Earth Live respects your privacy. You can use the entire live globe without an account. We collect the minimum data needed to run the service, we never sell your data, and we never see your card details.
Who we are
Earth Live ("we", "the service") is an independently operated project based in Croatia, EU. For any privacy question, contact earth.live.app@gmail.com.
What we collect
- No account or personal profile if you just browse. The free globe works without signing up. We do record anonymous product-usage events (see below).
- Account data — if you sign up: your email address and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase). We never store passwords in plain text.
- Your settings — saved places, alert rules, preferences and notifications you create, so we can sync them to your account.
- Payment data — if you subscribe, payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. We only keep your plan status and Stripe customer id.
- Location — only if you tap "Near Me" or ask for ISS pass times, your browser shares your coordinates for that request to show local conditions or when the station flies over. We do not store your location; the address bar may show the rounded point you're viewing so you can share it.
- Anonymous analytics — we use privacy-friendly, cookieless usage and page-speed analytics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) to understand traffic and performance. They do not identify you.
- Google Analytics & Google Ads — only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner, Google sets cookies to measure visits and how our ads perform (for example, whether an ad led to a sign-up or a subscription). If you decline, or until you choose, Google Consent Mode keeps all Google storage switched off and Google receives only cookieless signals without an identifier. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookies" in the app or the link below.
- Server logs — like any website, our hosting provider briefly processes your IP address and the requested URL to serve pages and protect against abuse.
- Product usage events — to learn which parts of the app are useful, we record simple events such as "a location was opened" or "the upgrade screen was shown", with your device type (mobile or desktop) and the website you came from (domain only). No cookie or visitor identifier is used, and nothing is stored on your device for this. If you are signed in, these events are linked to your account.
How your data is used
To provide the service: authenticate you, sync your settings, deliver alerts you asked for, and process your subscription. We also use the anonymous product-usage events to understand which features help people and to improve the product; the legal basis is our legitimate interest, and you can object at any time by emailing earth.live.app@gmail.com. We do not sell or rent your personal data. With your consent, Google measures visits and ad performance as described above (legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
When you probe a location
When you tap a point, its coordinates are sent to public data providers (MET Norway, OpenAQ, AWS Terrain Tiles, USGS, NASA, NOAA) to fetch conditions for that spot. Place searches are answered by our own server from the GeoNames dataset and are not sent to any third party. No account information is sent — only the coordinates.
Processors we rely on
- Supabase — accounts and database (EU-hosted), protected by row-level security
- Stripe — subscription payments (PCI-DSS compliant)
- Vercel — hosting and anonymous analytics
- Resend — sends account emails, alert emails and the Daily Planet Brief you subscribe to
- Your browser's push service (Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft) — delivers push alerts if you turn them on
- Google — Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement; cookies only with your consent
Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's local storage for things the app needs: keeping you signed in, your preferences and chosen categories, which alerts were already shown, small reminders (for example, that you've seen an offer today) and your cookie choice. None of it is used to track you across sites. Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are set only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner; until then Google Consent Mode keeps all Google storage switched off. Declining changes nothing about how the globe works. Change cookie settings.
Your rights (GDPR)
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, or to make any request, email earth.live.app@gmail.com and we'll action it promptly.
Data retention & security
We keep account data only while your account is active. Product-usage events are deleted automatically after 180 days, and deleting your account unlinks any events from it immediately. Data is protected in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, with database access restricted per-user by row-level security.
Children
Earth Live is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
